Prepa IPC Exit Point- Who am I?

As part of their exit point the prepa students with their parents created a poster of them. Parents and students were very engaged in their learning and very creative in making the posters.

The Generation Game

The students form 3rd grade are learning how to take care baby and toddlers They design games using their understanding of  babies needs. They had a great time playing with their games and testing their learning of the needs of babies.

Playing games is a fun way to learn.

This activity was very useful because it showed you almost everything about the needs of babies.

Why are learning-focused displays important?

Here is what one very helpful programmed for schools- the Looking for Learning Toolkit -says about learning-focused displays:

Displays are important for four main reason:

1. For our students, displays are a visible recognition of their learning.

2. For our wider school community, displays both inside and outside classrooms send a powerful message about your school culture and the value it places on learning. A learning-focused display says: "We are so interested in your learning and we prize it so much that we want everyone to see what you are achieving".

3. Time spent on displays should be time well spent and time that contributes to learning.

4. A learning-focused display can drive the learning on within a class or across the school. Learning-focused displays can provide new and different ways of challenging the children.

Great learning, great fun in the Primary school

Welcome to 2015. As always the IPC is promising great learning and great fun in Primary.

In PREPA they have been studying about the Magic Toymaker( games and toys). They have learned that toys come in different sizes and shapes and that toys have been designed for us to have fun, to learn new skills an to excercise our bodies and our imagination.

On Friday January 23rd they will have their Exit Point, with lots of learning form the Toy maker and a puppet show.












The 1st graders had their Entry point on the 16th of January of the wonderful unit: The Circus is coming to Town. It's all about Movement and Eentertainment

The BIG Idea:
Have you hear the saying: "laughter is the best medicine?' Laughing and having fun are such an important part of our lives. We all love being entertained and enjoying ourselves. For a very long time, the circus has been a very special place, where people, from many parts of the world, go to be entertained laugh and have fun.

What a fun way to start a unit with such enthusiastic teachers

The 2nd Graders have been learning everything about CHOCOLATE. As part of their Exit Point the will be visitng the Meleher Chocolate factory this coming Thursday and Friday. They will have the opportunity to see how chocolate is made and have a taste of it. 

3rd graders have been learning about their bodies the most valuable thing they ever own. It's their job to keep their bodies fit and healthy because it has to last for our lifetime. By the end of the Unit SHAPING UP they will find out the best way to kep it fit and healthy.

Black GOLD (all about the Oil industry)  is the IPC unit  which the 4th graders are studying. 

The big idea

Oil is essential to our daily lives. It gives us many thousands of different products, most of which we have all come to rely on. But what might happen when the oil runs out?

..... but what might happen if we run out of oil?

5th graders are learning about classical civilizations: Greece, Rome and beyond through the IPC unit: The Great, The Bold and The Brave.

The big idea

The history of western civilization  begins with the Greeks and the Romans. Their expanding empires helped to spread ideas about architecture, food, entertainment, literature, science, medicine and politics across the globe. As their empires ended, other cultures rose to prominence, absorbing and passing on their own ideas and cultures – creating the world we know today.

We encourage parents to talk to their children about their learning.

Go with the flow

As part of their Entry point the 4th grade children had to design a small toy boat to sail on the pool. Children were encouraged to create the most efficient boat designs to fit the purpose. They tested their boats in the swimming pool.


Parents you can ask your children these questions about their learning experince:

Which boat design sailed the best?
Which was the fastest boat?
Which boat was the most stable in the water? Can they explain why?

3rd graders had an excellent learning experince

As part of their entry point the 3rd grade students had a great time learning about Temples, tombs and treasure. They had the opportunity to act as archaeologist buy digging in the sand pit, which had hidden treasures and they able to investigate King Tut's tomb. they had a great time learning.

1.Who am I: 

The big idea

‘Ourselves’ is a wonderful theme at any age, but with children of 5-7 it is especially exciting because they are at a stage in their lives when they are just beginning to feel
‘grown up’ as they learn important adult skills such as reading, writing and mathematics. They are also finding out the skills they need to be part of a group and are moving away
from the self-centred picture of themselves that dominates the first few years of their life to a realisation that their ‘self’ is not just about them but is also defined by their
relationships with others. Above all, we should celebrate our differences whilst seeing our similarities to our group members. So, we are individuals as well as important members of a wider community.

Toys come in many shapes and sizes. But all are designed for us to have fun with, to learn new skills and to exercise our bodies and our imagination.

3.Seeing the light

The big idea

If there was no light, there would be no life on our planet. Light helps plants to grow, it warms the planet, and it allows us to see all the wonders around us.

4.Buildings

The big idea

There are structures around us all the time, some of which we barely notice. What are they made from? What is their purpose? What do you notice about their shapes? What can be done to make them stronger? Through this unit you will become builders and discover secrets to holding up bridges and skyscrapers.

5.We are what we eat

Food plays a vital role in history and culture throughout the world because food is essential to life. By learning about the different types and amounts of food our bodies need, we can plan healthier diets and enjoy longer lives.

Celebrations are an important part of human life. They are one of the things that make us uniquely human. All peoples and cultures, from every part of the world, take part in and hold celebrations to mark special events and special times in someone’s life.
